Family Paws Veterinary Staff

    Veterinarian

    Dr. Lizz Reinke graduated from Michigan State University in 2017. She began her career working at a mixed animal practice out in the Thumb but found her love for companion animal medicine in Macomb County. She enjoys urgent care medicine, surgery and managing chronic illnesses in pets.

    Dr. Lizz has two mischievous dogs: Mora, the Malamute, and Metel, the Husky. She also cares for her six barn cats: Karen, Gretchen, Regina, Cady, Ziva and Mr. Handsome Pants.  Dr. Lizz and her husband Tim have proudly owned Family Paws since 2024.

    Veterinarian

    Dr. Kate Steffes is a 2017 graduate of Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. She is Michigan native from the town of Algonac and has been practicing mostly small animal medicine and some shelter medicine in the southeast area for the past 8 years. She enjoys the variety of cases general practice has to offer, with a special interest in soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and ultrasound.

    Dr. Kate, her husband, Zach, and daughter, Betty, have a home full of critters including two dogs (Lewie and Frank) and three cats (Mabel, Boo, and Toad). She also has an adopted ex-racehorse named Hoagy and a flock of chickens and geese. In her free time, she loves to travel, explore the great outdoors, and spend time with her family.

    Dr. Paige Myers hails from downriver and grew up in Southeast Michigan. She completed her undergraduate degree at University of Michigan in Ecology and went to St. George’s University in Grenada for Veterinary School.

    She is excited to be back in Michigan and pursue her love of treating animals at Family Paws. Dr. Meyers loves reading a good book, thrifting clothes, and hanging out with her two island kitties, Penny and Percy, as well as her Shih Tzu, Gigi.

    Veterinary Technician

    Missy started working in the veterinary field 10 years ago as a receptionist. Her passion for animals fueled her desire to grow into becoming a veterinary technician! She always has had a great love for animals and treats every animal like her own.

    She has two goofy Doberman Pinschers: Cleopatra and Moose, as well as three cats: Jynx, Meeka and Sabbath. Missy also has a beautiful daughter and amazing husband. She enjoys playing trivia (when she is not busy being a mom!), going on bike rides and music.

    Veterinary Technician

    Kristen is a veterinary technician with 4 years of experience in the veterinary field.

    She has a dog named Honey, a 9 year old chihuahua dachshund mix, and one cat named Onyx, who is 4 years old. She has 2 older sisters, and an amazing boyfriend. In her free time she enjoys binge watching tv shows and cooking delicious meals.

    Haleigh has been working as a Veterinary Technician since 2016. She loves helping pets and their families while building lasting relationships with clients and patients. Outside of work, she enjoys planning her next trip, shopping and listening to Taylor Swift. One of my favorite experiences was attending the Eras Tour!

    She lives in Romeo with her fiancé, Kyle. Haleigh loves the charm and close-knit feel of small-town life. In her free time, you'll often find her exploring new parks, walking trails and adventure spots with her two dogs, Miggy and Maple.

    Licensed Veterinary Technician

    Nina is a Licensed Veterinary Technician with about 10 years experience in the field.  She graduated from Stanbridge University in California in 2017.  She has two dogs, Rocco + Polly, as well as two cats, Stormie + Betty. 

    During her free time you can find her golfing with her husband and friends, reading a good book, watching a Detroit Tigers game, or listening to Taylor Swift on repeat!

    Kelsey graduated as a licensed veterinarian technician in 2020 and has been in the veterinary field since 2012!

    Kelsey and her husband were married in 2024 and had their first child in 2026. She has a boxer-mix named Dozer that she rescued in 2021.

    In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, enjoying good coffee and watching football!

    Kelsey has been working in the veterinary field for 5 years. She is currently attending Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Kelsey will graduate in 2027 with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine! She has a special interest in endocrine disorders in both large and companion animals.

    Kelsey and her fiancé Jack have a cat named Yodi and an energetic Brittany Spaniel named Boone. In her free time she enjoys riding her 23 year old OTTB, Chic, playing softball and hiking.

    Licensed Veterinary Technician

    Harley graduated from Macomb Community College with an associate degree in Applied Science & obtained her Veterinary Technician license in 2011. She has worked in specialty hospitals focusing on internal medicine & surgery, ER, and clinical practice. She’s a sucker for a Rottweiler and knows they’re all just big babies.

    Harley & her husband have the sweetest identical special needs twin boys. She enjoys going to concerts, horror/tv conventions, anything Halloween, and swimming with her kids & family in their pool.

    Veterinary Technician

    Corie grew up with a huge passion for animals and showed in 4H for 5 + years! As she grew out of the program Corie found a passion for dog grooming and started her own business in what she loves to do everyday! Over the years she has grown an amazing business with amazing clients! She has since added experience in veterinary care to learn more and be able to do my grooming job better. Corie really loves to care and heal sick/injured pups to make sure they live there lives to the fullest!

    She is very thankful to also be working for a family owned and operated veterinary clinic who thrives to put there clientele first and focus on what really matters: the care for your fur pup!

    Peggy has worked with people as well as pets for the last 8 years. She is easily distracted by pets/children and thrives on patient interaction!

    She has 3 cats: Norbert, Neville and Hera, as well as a sassy Dachshund named Sprout. She is a huge Star Wars nerd, Red Wings fan, avid reader, baker and movie watcher. She also loves a good dad joke!

    She is the proud mother of twin daughters and lives with her super sweet boyfriend.

    Ashley joined the Family Paws team in 2026 after being a client and fan of the practice for years. She brings a background in patient care, customer service and office coordination to her role. She loves creating a welcoming experience for every person and pet who walks through the door.

    As a lifelong animal lover, working at Family Paws feels like coming full circle. Ashley has trusted the team with her own dogs, Reece and Graham, and is passionate about helping clients feel heard, supported and cared for from the moment they arrive.

    Outside of work, Ashley enjoys spending time with her husband, Josh, their family and their two dogs, Reece and Graham. She is currently pursuing a degree at the University of Michigan-Flint. Her faith, love for animals and heart for helping others are at the center of everything she does. Ashley is excited to be part of the Family Paws family and looks forward to meeting you and your pets!

    Hospital Administrator

    Joe has managed healthcare facilities large and small over the last 18 years, the last 10 being in the veterinary field. He wears many hats around here!

    He has an 8 year old Braque Francais named Sylvanas (Sassy) that runs his life. In the little free time we give him, he enjoys golfing, cooking and getting lost in the woods!
